I want to give this to you so you can use it and share it with all you brothers:
The choice of being a firefighter
If you choose to be a firefighter
You're choosing the hard way
A way full of hardship, of no luxury, no comfort,
That'll cause you mental and physical wear.
That'll alienate you from your loved ones
That'll bring you close to human miseries
And it'll show you social ingratitude
You'll have to take the chance
Of living the adventure of speed,
Of high altitude, of agility;
You'll have to combine strength and technique.
You'll have to leave a simple lunch unfinished,
Wake up in the middle of the night and run to save a stranger's life,
To give a hand to anybody, even if undeserved,
Because you may not judge anyone by the color of his skin, status or
By whatever he represents.
You'll have chosen to be the good Samaritan,
The hero of your neighborhood, the hero of children's dreams.
You'll have chosen to master your fears
And to never cowardly run away.
You'll have to keep your mission 'till the end,
At the risk of losing your own health, even your own life
And if God shall allow this to happen, only then
You'll have your reward.
